KEY INFORMATION
2013 Harley-Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic 103
22,083 Miles | Two Owners | Fresh Florida Import | £9,495
Few motorcycles capture the spirit, presence and unmistakable character of a traditional Harley-Davidson quite like the Heritage Softail Classic.
This is the Harley for the rider who wants it all: authentic 1950s-inspired styling, relaxed cruising comfort, genuine long-distance practicality and the thunderous performance of a big-capacity American V-twin. Add in the right accessories, an outstanding colour combination and the kind of preserved condition that is becoming increasingly difficult to find, and you have a very special motorcycle indeed.
The example we are delighted to offer is a 2013 Harley-Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic, powered by the desirable 1690cc Twin Cam 103B engine. It has covered just 22,083 miles, has had only two owners from new and has arrived with us as a fresh import from Florida.
Finished in a stunning deep metallic blue with elegant silver pinstriping, this bike looks absolutely magnificent. The metallic flake comes alive under the light, while the contrasting whitewall tyres, polished chrome and traditional leather trim give it the appearance of a beautifully preserved American custom cruiser.
The paintwork, chrome, alloy, wheels and trim are all in exceptional condition. Its Florida provenance is reflected throughout the motorcycle, and it is immediately apparent that this has been a cherished and carefully maintained machine.
The History of the Heritage Softail Classic
The Softail concept was introduced by Harley-Davidson during the 1980s to give riders the appearance of an old-fashioned rigid-frame motorcycle without the harsh and uncompromising ride associated with a genuine hardtail. The rear suspension was cleverly concealed beneath the motorcycle, leaving the frame with the clean, uninterrupted lines of Harley’s earliest machines.
The first FLST Heritage Softail appeared in 1986, combining the new Softail chassis with the broad front end, deeply valanced mudguards and substantial proportions associated with Harley-Davidson’s traditional FL motorcycles. The more comprehensively equipped FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic followed by the late 1980s.
Its styling deliberately recalls Harley-Davidson’s great post-war touring motorcycles, particularly the Hydra-Glide era. Wide mudguards, wire-spoked wheels, generous floorboards, auxiliary lighting, a touring screen and leather saddlebags all contribute to that timeless silhouette. It provides much of the practicality and visual presence of a full-sized touring Harley without the weight and bulk of an Electra Glide or Ultra Classic.
That combination has made the Heritage one of Harley-Davidson’s most enduring models. It is equally at home cruising gently through the countryside, carrying a passenger on a weekend away or covering serious motorway miles.
The Desirable Twin Cam 103B Generation
By 2013, the Heritage Softail Classic had evolved considerably beneath its traditional exterior.
At its heart is Harley-Davidson’s Twin Cam 103B, an air-cooled, fuel-injected, 45-degree V-twin displacing 1,690cc or 103 cubic inches. The “B” denotes the counterbalanced Softail version of the Twin Cam engine. Because the engine is mounted rigidly within the Softail frame, internal balancer shafts were used to reduce unwanted vibration while retaining the pulse, sound and mechanical character that riders expect from a Harley-Davidson.
The result is a wonderfully relaxed engine with generous low-down torque. It does not need to be revved or constantly worked through the gears; simply open the throttle and allow the big V-twin to pull the motorcycle forward with effortless authority.
A six-speed gearbox makes the Heritage particularly enjoyable on faster roads, while belt final drive keeps routine maintenance straightforward and delivers power smoothly and quietly to the rear wheel.
For many Harley enthusiasts, this generation represents a particularly appealing point in the model’s history. It has fuel injection, the larger 103 cubic-inch engine and a proper six-speed transmission, yet retains the traditional pre-2018 Softail chassis, classic proportions and extensively chromed finish.
Our 2013 Heritage Softail Classic
This particular Heritage has been exceptionally well specified and tastefully personalised. The additions enhance its appearance, sound and usability without taking away from the traditional character that makes the FLSTC so desirable.
Deep Metallic Blue and Silver Pinstripe
The paintwork is one of the first things that catches your attention. The deep metallic blue has an incredibly rich finish, with fine metallic flake visible beneath the surface. Delicate silver pinstriping follows the contours of the fuel tank and mudguards, while the traditional Harley-Davidson tank emblems provide the perfect finishing touch.
The broad front mudguard, sweeping rear mudguard and fuel tank are all beautifully presented. Chrome mudguard rails, front and rear trim pieces and the classic Heritage Softail script further enhance its vintage appearance.
Set against the fresh whitewall tyres and chrome wire wheels, the colour combination is simply superb.
Ape-Hanger Handlebars and Braided Lines
A set of tall ape-hanger handlebars gives the bike a commanding stance and delivers the unmistakable American custom look.
Importantly, the conversion has been completed properly with extended braided control and brake lines, rather than stretched or improvised original equipment. The braided lines look excellent against the chrome bars and front end, while the raised riding position suits the relaxed character of the motorcycle perfectly.
Chrome mirrors, custom grips and chrome-finished controls continue the theme across the cockpit.
Vance & Hines Shortshots
The original exhaust system has been replaced with a set of Vance & Hines Shortshots.
These are one of the most sought-after exhaust systems for a Harley-Davidson Softail, giving the bike a far more purposeful appearance and allowing the 103 cubic-inch motor to deliver the deep, traditional V-twin soundtrack it deserves.
The chrome heat shields remain beautifully presented, and the staggered slash-cut outlets sit neatly alongside the rear wheel. They look superb and produce a proper Harley rumble without visually overwhelming the rest of the bike.
Custom Air Cleaner
The engine is complemented by a striking aftermarket chrome air cleaner featuring an intricate multi-spoke design and skull centrepiece.
It provides a distinctive custom focal point on the right-hand side of the motorcycle and works particularly well with the chrome rocker covers, polished engine cases, chrome exhaust system and machined cylinder-fin detailing.
The engine itself presents exceptionally well, with clean black barrels, bright machined fins and excellent chrome throughout.
Full Heritage Touring Equipment
The Heritage Softail Classic was designed to be both attractive and practical, and this example retains the equipment that makes the model such a capable touring motorcycle.
It benefits from:
- An OEM Harley-Davidson windscreen
- Twin chrome auxiliary spotlights
- An OEM passenger backrest
- Integrated chrome luggage rack
- Large, deeply padded passenger seat
- Matching studded rider seat
- Genuine-style studded leather saddlebags
- Traditional conchos, braided leather detailing and metal studs
- Full rider floorboards
- Passenger floorboards
- Engine protection bars
- Adjustable highway pegs
The screen provides useful protection from wind and weather, while the floorboards allow the rider to move their feet and remain comfortable during longer journeys.
The generous passenger seat and substantial backrest make this a genuinely usable two-up motorcycle. The luggage rack provides additional carrying capacity, while the large leather saddlebags are ideal for waterproofs, tools and weekend essentials.
Brand-New Shinko Whitewall Tyres
The motorcycle has been fitted with brand-new Shinko whitewall tyres.
Whitewalls completely transform the appearance of a traditional Heritage Softail, framing the chrome wire-spoked wheels and perfectly complementing the deeply valanced mudguards. They help create the unmistakable 1950s American touring look for which the model is famous.
Both wheels present beautifully, with clean chrome rims, bright spokes and excellent brake components.
Further Details Visible on the Bike

Why the Heritage Softail Classic Is Such a Great Motorcycle
The real attraction of the Heritage is its versatility.
Remove yourself from the specification sheet and simply look at what the bike offers: enormous visual presence, a low and manageable riding position, comfortable accommodation for two, usable luggage capacity and a big V-twin engine that delivers its performance in a relaxed and effortless manner.
It is substantial enough to feel planted and reassuring on the open road but remains less intimidating than a full-dress touring model. The low seat and broad handlebars help make low-speed manoeuvring surprisingly manageable, while the riding position encourages you to settle back and enjoy the journey.
The screen, backrest, saddlebags and floorboards make it capable of genuine touring. The whitewalls, chrome, wire wheels and studded leather ensure that it still looks like a proper traditional Harley when parked outside your favourite café or at a motorcycle show.
And then there is the engine.
The Twin Cam 103B delivers the unmistakable rhythm, mechanical character and low-speed torque that define a big Harley-Davidson. Combined with the Vance & Hines exhaust system, this bike has the sound and presence to match its appearance.
A Beautifully Preserved Florida Harley
Finding a Heritage Softail Classic is not difficult. Finding one with the right engine, the right colour, the right accessories and this level of presentation is a very different matter.
This motorcycle has covered a sensible 22,083 miles, has had only two owners from new and remains in outstanding condition throughout. The deep metallic paint retains a superb lustre, the chrome is bright and reflective, the wheels are beautifully presented and the engine area is exceptionally clean.
It has clearly been valued by its previous owners, and the considerable collection of accessories would cost a substantial amount to replicate on a standard motorcycle.
It is ready to be enjoyed as a comfortable long-distance cruiser, an impressive weekend motorcycle or simply as a beautiful example of one of Harley-Davidson’s most recognisable designs.
