It has the look, presence and road-going comfort of a proper American-style touring cruiser, combined with Yamaha’s superb reputation for reliability, smooth engineering and long-distance usability.

The Yamaha XVS1300 has always been a very clever motorcycle. When Yamaha introduced the 1300 platform, it was designed to sit above the smaller middleweight cruisers while remaining more manageable, lighter and easier to live with than the truly heavyweight touring bikes. At its heart is Yamaha’s strong 1304cc fuel-injected V-twin engine, giving the bike that relaxed, torquey cruiser feel while still offering plenty of real-world performance for motorway miles, weekend rides and two-up touring. It delivers the classic low-revving V-twin character riders want, but with the smoothness, refinement and dependability that Yamaha are so well known for.

The XVS1300 became known as the V-Star 1300 in the American market and the Midnight Star in other territories. Unlike aftermarket luggage, these panniers look like they belong on the bike because they were designed as part of the Deluxe package from new.

It also benefits from the quick-release OEM passenger backrest, which is a superb addition for pillion comfort and can be removed when you want a cleaner solo look.
