If you’re looking for a traditional American-style cruiser with plenty of road presence, genuine long-distance comfort and manageable everyday manners, the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT is one of those bikes that gets the balance just right.

This particularly lovely 2009 VN900 Classic LT has covered just 17,306 miles from new and has had only one owner. Recently imported by us from sunny Florida, it has spent its life garage kept and its condition really does reflect that.

Finished in the gorgeous factory Candy Diamond Red and Metallic Titanium two-tone paintwork, with extensive chrome detailing, wire-spoked wheels and the full Classic LT touring package, it is a beautifully preserved example and looks every inch the big American cruiser.

The Vulcan 900 Story

Kawasaki introduced the Vulcan 900 range for the 2006 model year, replacing the much-loved VN800 with an entirely new cruiser designed to deliver the presence and comfort of a much larger machine without the intimidating weight, engine size or running costs.

The formula worked extremely well. Kawasaki gave the VN900 the broad fuel tank, deeply valanced mudguards, substantial 180-section rear tyre, spoked wheels, floorboards and low-slung proportions associated with heavyweight cruisers, while retaining a very manageable 26.8-inch seat height. Contemporary reviews regularly remarked that the Vulcan 900 looked and felt like a considerably larger motorcycle than its engine capacity suggested.

At its heart is Kawasaki’s proven 903cc liquid-cooled V-twin, using electronic fuel injection, SOHC cylinder heads and four valves per cylinder. Kawasaki retained the traditional V-twin character but used a balancer and rubber engine mounting to reduce unwanted vibration. Power is delivered through a 5-speed transmission and low-maintenance belt final drive, making the VN900 exceptionally easy to live with.

With a substantial 5.3 US gallon / approximately 20-litre fuel tank, relaxed riding position and strong low-down V-twin torque, the 900 was designed for proper cruising rather than simply looking the part.

What Makes the Classic LT Special?

The LT – or Light Touring – was the factory-equipped touring version of the Vulcan 900 Classic. Rather than buying a basic cruiser and adding accessories afterwards, Kawasaki supplied the LT ready for longer-distance riding.

As standard, the Classic LT gained an adjustable touring windshield, reinforced leather saddlebags, a deeply padded studded touring seat and passenger backrest. Kawasaki’s original bags were reinforced internally to help retain their shape, with traditional chrome buckles concealing much easier quick-release fasteners underneath.

What really makes this particular bike stand out is its history and condition.

It is a genuine one-owner motorcycle, showing only 17,306 miles from new, and has spent its life in Florida where it was garage kept. The combination of careful ownership and Florida’s motorcycle-friendly climate has helped preserve the bike exceptionally well.

Take a look around the photographs and the quality speaks for itself. The two-tone paint remains deep and glossy, the engine casings and exhaust system retain a tremendous amount of their original chrome finish, the wheels present beautifully and even the original-style studded seats and Vulcan saddlebags have survived extremely well.

For a motorcycle now approaching 18 years old, it is a remarkably clean example.

The bike has now undergone our pre-delivery inspection and comes with a 12-month MOT from September 2026, so it is prepared and ready for its next owner.

A Proper Cruiser Without the Heavyweight Compromise

The Vulcan 900 Classic LT has always occupied a particularly sweet spot in the cruiser market. It has enough size and presence that you don’t feel as though you’re riding a small-capacity machine, yet the low seat, predictable fuel-injected engine and manageable chassis make it considerably less daunting than many 1500cc–1900cc cruisers.

That also makes it an excellent choice for someone moving into their first proper cruiser, while still offering enough comfort, character and touring ability to appeal to an experienced rider wanting something a little easier to handle.

Contemporary testers praised exactly this combination: big-bike looks, comfortable ergonomics, wind protection, useful luggage capacity and easy-going handling.

At £4,995, finding another one-owner, low-mileage, genuine Classic LT with this level of equipment and in this condition is unlikely to be easy.
