KEY INFORMATION
Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar — 2007 — 13,909 Miles — £4,495
A truly exceptional 2007 Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar, imported by us from sunny Florida last year, now offered in spectacular condition throughout.
This is not just another Dragstar. This is a beautifully preserved, low-mileage, 2-owner example that has clearly lived a very easy life. Showing just 13,909 miles, this bike was originally sourced and imported by American Cruiser UK from Florida, where the warm, dry climate has helped preserve the paintwork, chrome and alloy to a level rarely seen on UK-market examples of this age.
We sold this very bike to its current owner after import, and it is only being offered back for sale due to the owner’s regrettable health issues. Since arriving in the UK, it has covered only around 200 miles, spending the rest of its time stored under cover in the customer’s garage. The result is a machine that still presents beautifully from every angle.
Finished in a deep metallic red with contrasting silver tank detail, this Dragstar has a superb classic cruiser stance: long, low, relaxed and full of presence. The paintwork has a rich gloss, the chrome is outstanding, the alloy parts remain impressively clean, and the overall condition is easily among the best we have seen for a 650 Dragstar of this era.
Model background — Yamaha’s legendary middleweight cruiser
The Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar was introduced in the late 1990s as Yamaha’s answer to riders who wanted the look, feel and road presence of a full-size cruiser, but with more manageable weight, excellent reliability and everyday usability. Known as the V Star 650 in the American market, the Dragstar became one of Yamaha’s most successful middleweight cruisers.
Its 649cc air-cooled V-twin engine was developed from Yamaha’s proven Virago heritage, giving it a smooth, dependable and characterful cruiser feel. The low seat height, relaxed riding position, shaft drive and classic styling made the XVS650 popular with a wide range of riders — from newer cruiser owners to experienced riders looking for something easy-going, stylish and dependable.
What made the Dragstar so successful was its balance. It gave riders the visual appeal of a big traditional cruiser, with spoked wheels, swept-back bars, deep mudguards, plenty of chrome and that unmistakable V-twin silhouette, but without being intimidating or heavy to manage. It is a bike that is just as happy cruising through town as it is covering weekend miles on open roads.
The Dragstar earned its reputation for being simple, strong, comfortable and extremely reliable. Good examples are now becoming increasingly sought-after, especially clean imported bikes that have avoided years of British weather.
This particular bike
This 2007 example is exactly the kind of Dragstar that stands out from the crowd. Being a Florida bike, the condition is immediately noticeable. The red paintwork has a deep shine, the chrome engine cases, exhausts, wheels, bars and trim all present superbly, and the alloy parts are impressively clean throughout.
It is also fitted with a tasteful selection of extras that suit the bike perfectly:
Cobra aftermarket exhausts
A great-looking set of chrome Cobra pipes that give the bike a stronger cruiser presence and a deeper, more purposeful look.
Aftermarket rider floorboards
A very welcome comfort upgrade, giving the rider a more relaxed foot position and adding to the big-cruiser feel.
Passenger backrest / sissy bar
Ideal for pillion comfort and also adds to the traditional custom cruiser styling.
Crash bars / engine bars
A practical and attractive addition that suits the look of the bike while offering extra protection.
Chrome spoked wheels
The bike sits beautifully on classic chrome wire wheels, with the photos showing a very clean front rim and a strong rear cruiser tyre profile.
Metallic red and silver tank finish
The tank is one of the visual highlights of the bike, with excellent gloss, clean badging and a standout red finish that really pops under the light.
Clean chrome and brightwork throughout
From the headlight shell and mirrors to the engine cases, exhausts, rear rails and handlebar clamps, the chrome condition is a major selling point on this bike.
Condition
This has to be one of the cleanest Yamaha XVS650 Dragstars currently available. The bike presents exceptionally well across the paintwork, chrome, wheels, tank, mudguards, engine, seat, exhausts and controls. The photographs show just how well-preserved it is, with the sort of shine and finish that you would usually only expect from a carefully stored American import.
The seat and passenger pad are in very nice order, the rear backrest is clean, the tank is stunning, the engine cases are bright, and the overall appearance is exactly what you want from a proper cruiser: polished, cared for and full of character.
