KEY INFORMATION
2014 Yamaha XVS1300 Midnight Star Deluxe for sale in the UK – one owner, 7,487 miles – £6,995
If you are looking for a low-mileage, high-spec cruiser with genuine rarity in the UK, this 2014 Yamaha XVS1300 Midnight Star Deluxe is a superb example. Better known in the USA as the Yamaha V-Star 1300 Deluxe, this is the premium factory-touring version of Yamaha’s hugely respected 1300 V-twin platform. This particular bike is a one owner machine with just 7,487 miles, and it is presented in excellent condition throughout.
The Yamaha XVS1300 Midnight Star has long been regarded as one of the very best Japanese-built cruisers of its class. Yamaha developed the 1300 platform as the next step on from the older XVS1100/Drag Star generation, with a strong focus on easier operation, better long-distance comfort, stronger cruising performance and a more refined overall ride. The result was a full-size cruiser powered by a 1304cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC V-twin with belt drive, combining classic cruiser character with modern Yamaha engineering and reliability. Yamaha’s own technical review of the model explains that the V Star 1300 was created specifically to deliver more comfort, stronger high-speed cruising performance and easy-to-handle manners in a full-size middleweight cruiser.
In North America, Yamaha sold this family of bikes under the V-Star name, while UK and European buyers knew the equivalent platform as the XVS1300 Midnight Star. The big difference here is that this bike is not the standard UK-market Midnight Star most people will be familiar with. This is the far more desirable Deluxe version, first introduced by Star Motorcycles as a more upmarket, factory-built bagger/touring model based on the same 1300cc V-twin platform.
That factory Deluxe specification is what makes this bike stand out. Compared with the regular UK Midnight Star, the Deluxe came with a colour-matched fork-mounted fairing, integrated sound system, Garmin zūmo 665 sat-nav, Bluetooth capability, satellite-radio capability, iPod/iPhone compatibility with handlebar-mounted controls, and colour-matched lockable hard panniers as standard. In other words, this was not just a standard cruiser with a few accessories added afterwards; it was Yamaha’s more premium, purpose-built touring version of the XVS1300/V-Star 1300, giving it a bigger presence, more comfort and a much higher-spec feel straight from the factory.
As for this particular example, it is exactly the kind of bike we love to find. It has had just one owner from new, covered only 7,487 miles, and has clearly been garage kept throughout its life. The condition of the bike really backs that up. The paintwork presents beautifully, the chrome is bright, the panniers are clean and straight, and best of all there is no corrosion whatsoever. It is an extremely honest, well-preserved example of a model that is rarely seen in this specification on the UK market.
We have carried out a pre-delivery inspection, and the bike wanted for nothing apart from a new rear tyre and an oil/filter service, which says a lot about how well it has been cared for. Mechanically, cosmetically and structurally, this is a very impressive machine. It has not been neglected, left outside, or allowed to deteriorate. It is simply a very well-kept, low-mileage Yamaha cruiser in a genuinely premium specification.
For anyone searching for a Yamaha XVS1300 Midnight Star for sale, a Yamaha V-Star 1300 Deluxe in the UK, or simply a quality cruiser with the looks of a bagger and the bulletproof reputation Yamaha is known for, this bike is an outstanding option. It offers the relaxed V-twin character people want, the comfort and luggage capacity that make it genuinely usable, and a much rarer factory specification than the standard Midnight Star sold here in Britain.
At £6,995, this is a lot of motorcycle for the money: one owner, low mileage, excellent condition, garage kept, rare Deluxe specification, and ready to go.
